This is Homeschooling

Our homeschool is a way of life. The goal my husband and I share for our children is to foster a love of education and adventure. We don’t study to pass a test, and we do not confine ourselves to the four walls of a classroom. Our school is the world around us; we live to learn and ingrain in ourselves important life skills not just limited to reading, writing and arithmetic. This is a family experience. This education requires a lot of hard work, like schooling does for any kid, but allowing them space to play, work, explore their unique interests, enjoy the fresh air and burn all that healthy boyish energy stimulates their brains in such a way that they don’t always know they’re learning but that hard earned knowledge stays in tact. You will notice in the actual study portion of our schooling various states of dress and undress, indicating that they have often paused from their otherwise engaging outdoor activities to take some time to study the knowledge within a textbook. As their mother it is very easy for me to often question myself and if my efforts are adequate, but as we are nearing completion of our current curriculum text books I am amazed at just how far they have come. The things I didn’t think they were getting I now realize that they have, and I am so relieved I did not bore them to tears with rigorous schedules and hours of study time. Homeschooling is different for every family, but this is what it looks like for us right now and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
