I met Anissa for the first time three years ago. I had just completed a job interview for a teller position, and the manager was showing me around the branch and introducing me to my potential new coworkers. She was standing at her station counting cash. She seemed so professional and pretty and perfect and put together that I was a little intimidated at the idea of working in her shadow. I didn't think she would like me very much because she had perfect hair. But then she smiled and said hi. I felt so awkward that day, that I'm pretty sure my response was something like, "I'm good, thanks!"
Long story short, I got the job and Anissa didn't think I was weird. Ah, I take that back. She did think I was weird, but it was more of a mutual weirdness. We bonded over chocolate and coffee, how adorable her daughters were, worked out potential trade deals amongst our kids, pranked team members a time or two, and sometimes it was suggested we not sit together during meetings. It was the best day job experience I have ever had.
It's been three years, and our friendship followed us out of the office. I am even her beautiful baby's godmother.
The other night we met up in their tiny little town of Arkansaw for some lovely family pictures. She seriously has the prettiest family ever.
